Cost and subsidy

How much does a rooftop system cost?

A 5 kW villa system is a six-figure decision and the honest answer is that the price depends on your roof, the mounting structure for a sloped tiled roof is not the structure for a flat slab, and shading decides whether you need optimisers. We do not publish a price list because a price without a shade study is a guess. The survey is free, and the quote that follows it is fixed for sixty days.

Am I eligible for the residential subsidy?

If the connection is a residential BESCOM connection in your name and the system is under 10 kW, generally yes. We assist with registration, documentation and subsidy processing as applicable. Under PM Surya Ghar the subsidy is disbursed to your bank account as a reimbursement after commissioning and inspection, so the project cost is paid in full and the subsidy follows.

BESCOM and paperwork

Who deals with BESCOM and net metering?

We do. The net-metering application, the feasibility request, the agreement, the bidirectional meter appointment and your subsidy documentation are all part of the install. You sign twice. Sanction usually takes five to eight working days in Bengaluru and it is the one step whose clock we do not control.

What happens to the units I do not use?

They go to the grid and BESCOM credits them against your later consumption under net metering. In practice the dry months build a credit that carries you through the monsoon, which is why annual figures matter more than any single month.

Output and weather

How much does the monsoon cut output?

Roughly 25 to 30% across June to September. It is a real drop and we build it into every estimate, the annual production figure we give you is already the wet-and-dry average, not a sunny-day number.

Do the panels need cleaning?

Yes, and it matters more here than the brochures suggest. Bengaluru dust can cost you 8 to 12% by the end of the dry season. Two cleanings a year are included in our monitoring, and the app flags a string whose output has drifted so we clean before you notice it on the bill.

The roof itself

Will drilling into my roof cause leaks?

No. Mounts are through-bolted into the slab, sealed with a butyl gasket and a polyurethane collar, then water-tested before the crew leaves. Waterproofing at every penetration is covered by our five-year workmanship warranty, in writing, not as goodwill.

Can I still use my terrace?

Mostly. A standard elevated structure leaves about six feet of headroom under the array, so a terrace stays walkable and the space underneath actually gets cooler. If you use the terrace for events or drying, tell the surveyor and we will lay the array to keep a clear zone.

Battery and power cuts

Do I need a battery?

Only if you want the house to run through a power cut. A grid-tied system without storage shuts down during an outage, that is a safety regulation, not a product limitation. If your area sees long or frequent cuts, a hybrid inverter and a 10 kWh bank will carry the essentials and usually the whole villa.

What does the system do when the grid fails?

Without storage, it disconnects within a fraction of a second and restarts when supply returns. With storage, the inverter islands the house, you keep running on solar and battery and generally do not notice the cut happened.

Warranty and service

What exactly is warranted, and by whom?

Twelve years on the panel itself and thirty years on rated performance, both from the module maker, Waaree Energies or Adani Solar. Inverters carry the manufacturer's term, five to ten years depending on model. Our own workmanship, including waterproofing and structure, is five years. We handle every claim rather than handing you a manufacturer helpline.

What if something fails in year nine?

You call us and we come. The monitoring usually tells us first, per-string alerts mean we often know a panel or an inverter is drifting before you do. Service calls are answered the same day for the life of the system.

Resale and value

Does solar affect the resale value of the villa?

It helps, and buyers in Bangalore now ask about it. A commissioned system with net metering in place, a monitoring history and transferable warranties is a documented reduction in the cost of running the house. The warranty and the BESCOM agreement transfer with the property, we file the change of name for you.

Assured Yield

What happens if production falls short of the assured yield?

We credit the shortfall at the applicable rate. The floor and the rate are both written into your contract, and the monitoring data we use is the same data you can see in the app, you do not have to file anything or prove anything.

How is the floor set?

From the survey: your roof’s tilt, azimuth and measured shade, against Bengaluru irradiance. We set it deliberately below the expected figure, so a dusty March or a long monsoon does not put us in breach and does not put you in doubt.

Choosing a system

On-grid or hybrid, which do I need?

On-grid (Nexergy Daylight) if your cuts are short and rare and most of your usage is daytime. Hybrid (Nexergy Round-the-Clock) if you get frequent cuts or want the whole villa backed up rather than a few points. Hybrid adds a 5 kWh battery as standard. The engineer settles it at the survey, and a Daylight system can take storage later.

Can I add a battery later?

Yes. We choose the inverter with that in mind, so adding storage later is a battery and a changeover, not a rebuild.
